Winslow Everett Whittier Jr. “Red”, age 86, of Norwood, MA passed away early morning on Friday, March 7th, 2025.
He was born in Norwood on October 29th, 1938, son of late Florence Williams and Winslow E. Whittier Sr. who grew up in East Walpole. He was the loving father of Gary Whittier of N. Attleborough, Cheryl Graham of Walpole, Jeanette White of Duxbury, Kimberly Intrieri of Wrentham, Michael Whittier of Idaho, Jennifer Whittier of Walpole and Winslow Whittier of Attleboro. He was a dear brother of Eunice Hildebrandt of SC, Paul Whittier of Walpole, Diane Stewart of ME, Richard Whittier of ME, and Deborah Bartlett of FL. He was a beloved grandfather to Benjamin and Alyssa White, Paul and Abbey Graham, Kayli, Alexandria, Winslow Jr., and Jaxson Whittier.
Winslow graduated from Walpole High School in 1956 and then enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably for three years. He also attended Newbury College and received a degree in Business Administration. He entered the workforce as a printer, working for companies such as Color Pictures in Jamaica Plain, The Christian Science in Boston and Regal Press in Norwood. After his retirement from Regal Press in 2009, Winslow continued to keep busy throughout retirement and worked part time jobs including a photo lab and Home Depot.
Winslow enjoyed multiple daily walks at Bird Park in East Walpole with his dogs. He enjoyed outdoor activities including gardening, camping, hunting & fishing. He was a member of the Anglers Fishing Club in Wrentham and climbed Mount Washington in 2008. He also loved riding motorcycles & snowmobiling. He traveled to multiple locations across the United States & Canada where he visited with family & friends. Winslow loved to share humorous stories to family including that on a whim, he bought a horse and rode it around Walpole including riding it inside a local bar.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, from 4-7 PM at the Folsom & May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols St. in Norwood. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the Union Congregational Church, 55 Rhoades Ave, East Walpole. Interment to follow at the Charles Sumner Bird Memorial Cemetery with Navy military honors. In honor of Winslow, flower donations may be sent to Folsom & May Funeral Home at the address above.
