William Francis Charles Jacobs Jr., a longtime resident of Westwood, died Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Needhamafter a brief illness. He was 80. Bill was born July 29, 1937 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only son of William Francis Charles Sr. and Lydia Ann (Steinberg) Jacobs. He attended Wentworth Institute in Boston for two years and then graduated from Boston Technical School where he studied the plumbing trade. Bill ran his own plumbing business, the William Jacobs Plumbing Corp, and working in the plumbing field for 65 years until his retirement in 2012. He was a member of the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors of Massachusetts (PHCC), the International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), and the New England Plumbing, Gas, and Mechanical Inspectors Association (NEPGMIA), as well as a member of the First Baptist Church of Westwood, where he served on the Board of Trustees, the BoSox Club, the US Submarine Veterans, and Celestial Lodge AF & AM of Westwood (formerly Elliott-Hyde Park Lodge). Bill also loved antique cars and was a member of the Ty-Rods, and the Yankee Wood Chapter of the National Woodie Club. He leaves his fiance, Judith L. Huskins of Westwood; his daughter, Susan Jean Jacobs-Marshalsea, and her husband Ronald Jr., of Norwood; his grandson, Ronald Marshalsea III; two sisters, Marilyn Jacobs Crowley of Quincy, and Florence E. Halligan of CA; as well as many nieces and nephews. Bill was the father of the late Lori Ann Jacobs; the brother of the late Valerie A. Kroon and the late Nancy L. Jacobs; and the brother-in-law of the late Frank E. Crowley. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 12th from 3 to 7 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday, October 13th at 10 am at the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood followed by burial in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston. In lieu of flowers donations to the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood, MA 02090 or to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 51 Blossom St., Boston, MA 02114 would be appreciated.
