William C. “Charlie” Heeg

William C. “Charlie” Heeg, a resident of Eastham, and formerly of Roslindale, died on May 17, 2011 at the age of 92.  He was born in Howell, Michigan to George Arlis and Leah Marie (Peavy).  Mr. Heeg was a veteran of WWII, serving in the United States Coast Guard.  He was a former Boston Fire Fighter with Ladder 25 in West Roxbury.  He also worked for Sturgis Doors and Windows when they were based in Dedham.  As a member of the Roslindale Congregational Church, he was a former deacon and part of the Rosco Club with his wife.  He was a Mason with the West Roxbury-Dorchester Lodge AF & AM where he was celebrated for 50 years of service.  Charlie, as he was fondly known, was extemely personable and was loved by all who knew him.  He enjoyed working with his hands and built his home on the Cape.  He liked hunting, shell fishing, bowling and gardening, especially growing vegetables which he gave out generously to his neighbors.  He enjoyed dancing.  He and his wife had won a dancing competition for which he was very proud.   It became the custom for Charlie to dance with the bride at all the family weddings.  He hosted many lobster cook outs at the cottage for their Rosco Club friends and enjoyed his winters on Pine Island in Florida.  Charlie was the beloved husband of Edna P. (Higgins) and the dear father of Linda Hagg and Susan Kiklis all of Eastham.  He was the b, other of Harry Heeg of Arizona, Sybil Haller of Michigan and the late Stanley Heeg, and the loving grandfather of 6 and great grandfather of 9.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Monday at 11 AM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Ave., Roslindale.  Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.  Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9PM with a Masonic service by the West Roxbury-Dorchester Lodge AF&AM at  8 PM.   In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be sent to the  Eastham Fire Dept., Rte 6, Eastham, MA 02642 or to Paws New England (pet rescue), 5 Freedom St., Plymouth, MA 02360.
