Wilfred Emerson Hill, fondly known by his friends and coworkers as “Sam Hill”, died Monday, August 22, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Dedham. He was 79. Wilfred was born June 28, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of Edward and Mary U. (Haight) Hill. He served in the US Airforce during the Korean War. Wilfred worked as an aircraft mechanic for Capital Airlines, Allegheny Airlines, East Coast Aero tech, and US Airways until his retirement in 1995. He coached little league baseball, a member of the West Roxbury Lodge AF & AM, and a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Dedham. He is survived by his wife, Bernice M. (Kelley) Hill; his son, David E. Hill of Freehold, NJ; his two daughters, Shirley A. Perry of Chatham, NY, and Catherine D. McHugh of Derry, NH; his brother, Frederick Hill of Dedham; his sister Lucille Saad of Cotuit; 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He was the father of the late Steven Hill and the brother of the late Julia Ann Hill. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his memorial service Saturday, September 3rd, 2011 at 10 AM at the Church of the Good Shepherd, 62 Oakdale Avenue, Dedham followed by burial in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer’s Association of Eastern MA, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 or to the Church of the Good Shepherd, 62 Cedar Street, Dedham, MA 02026 would be appreciated.
