Trudie K. Soderstrom

Trudie Kathryn (Rose)Soderstrom, 88 years old, of Dedham, MA, died peacefully on Friday, April 16 after courageously facing a two-year challenge with ALS. A longtime resident of Orleans and Walpole with degrees from Simmons College and Tufts University, Trudie worked as a nutritionist and then as a home-maker extraordinaire. Her passions included gardening and harvesting an over-abundance of flowers, fruits, and vegetables with her husband of 64 years, Rolf Soderstrom. She also loved creating amazing meals and gatherings with rich and humorous conversation, searching for seaglass and heart rocks on the outer beaches of Cape Cod, and traveling and learning about new cultures and religions. Throughout her life, she supported her family, friends and community in so many loving ways. In her death, she joins her parents, Carl Henry and Ottilie Kathryn (Mailandt) Rose and her brother and sister-in-law Ernest and Betsy Ciriack. She is survived by her husband Rolf Soderstrom, her son and daughter-in-law Mark and Lourdes Soderstrom of West Kingston, RI, her daughter and son-in-law Elizabeth Soderstrom and Steve Rothert of Nevada City, CA, her son and son-in-law Christian Soderstrom and Timothy Paquette-Soderstrom of Providence, RI, her daughter and son-in-law Elaine and Frank Anderson of Ann Arbor, MI, and eight wonderful, creative and smart grandchildren, all of whom inherited their grandmother’s love of cooking and the ocean. A private memorial and interment will be held in her honor. Memorial donations in Trudie’s name may be made to the Asssociation to Preserve Cape Cod.
