Thomas Albion Pinkham III, 76, a resident of Portsmouth, NH, and formerly a resident of LeRoy, NY and Bedford, NH, died February 2, 2009, at Portsmouth, NH after a long illness. He was born July 6, 1932 in Framingham, Massachusetts, the son of Thomas A. and Elizabeth (Moon) Pinkham, Jr.

Mr. Pinkham grew up in West Roxbury, MA and graduated from Roslindale High School in 1950. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps for 4 years after graduation stationed primarily in Germany. After completing his Army service, he joined Doble Engineering and then Lapp Insulator of Le Roy, NY where he rose to Senior Vice President in a 34 year career spanning engineering, marketing and business development. He was deeply involved in international technical standards committee work with IEEE, CIGRE and other professional societies involving High Voltage Insulators and traveled extensively throughout his career.

After retirement, Thomas enjoyed traveling, spending time with his family and frequent visits to Trenton, Maine.

He is survived by son Thomas (Jo Ellen) Pinkham IV of Rochester, NY, daughters Judith (William) Charland of Portsmouth, NH, Joyce (Charles) Kasabula of North Andover, MA, and 6 grandchildren. (Thomas, Andrew, Daniel, Ryan, Grace and Christopher)

Also survived by brother Harlan Robert (Barbara) Pinkham of Dedham, MA and 4 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Jeanne Marie (Connor) Pinkham.

A private memorial service and burial will be held by the family. Donations in Thomas’s memory may be made to the Al Sigl Center (1000 Elmwood Avenue, Suite 300, Rochester, NY 14620) / Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary (P.O. Box 485 Ellsworth, Me. 04605).
