Sheila A. Weeks (Drake), a longtime resident of Dedham and the last four years of Canton, passed away on March 31, 2016 at the age of 82. She was the beloved wife of the late General J. Weeks, Jr. Born in Dedham, her parents were Louis E. and Julia Anne (McCarthy) Drake. She was a graduate of Dedham High School, Class of 1951. For several years she was employed by the Boston Five Bank. While raising her children, she was a lunch mother at the old Capen School in Dedham. Later in her life she cared for her grandchildren full time. Sheila had a joy of life which she shared with everyone. She was a loyal member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary #42 and the Ladies Auxiliary #2017. Socializing at the Dunkin Donuts in Dedham was one of her favorite things to do. While living in Canton, she enjoyed going to the Canton Senior Center to participate in the activities. She especially liked the entertainers for singing. Sheila attended St. Mary’s Church most of her life and later joined St. Luke’s Lutheran Church with her late husband. April 1st would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. Sheila’s husband had a seeing eye dog, Brady, which they both relied on. After General’s passing, Brady was her constant companion. His devotion to her continued until his death 2 years ago. She is survived by her children, Donald E. Weeks of Auburn, ME, Robert J. Weeks of Dorchester, MA and Mary E. Czyras of Canton and her grandchildren, Eric Weeks, William Weeks, Julie Anne Czyras and Tyler Czyras. She was predeceased by her daughter Julie Anne Weeks and her siblings, John F. Drake, Louis P. Drake, Mary Warner and Evelyn Scaramuzzo.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2016 from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to gather the funeral home at 8am on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 and proceed to Mary’s Church, 420 High St., Dedham for her Mass of Christian burial at 9 o clock. Interment will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery in Braintree. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sheila’s memory may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, MA Chapter, 101 First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02154 or to VNA Hospice, 100 Trade Center, Suite G500, Woburn, MA 01801.
