Ruth May Wilson, a resident of Westwood, formerly of Concord and of Boston, better known as “Skip” to all who knew her, died Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Clark House in Westwood. She was 89. Mrs. Wilson was born in Waltham, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Francis L. & Ruby F. (Steele) May. She was a graduate of Radcliffe College in Cambridge, Class of 1942 and had several Masters Degrees in education, romance languages and linguistics. Mrs. Wilson was a teacher at Milton Academy and later Concord Academy. Active as a volunteer for the orchestra she loved, Skip was a member of the Board of Overseers of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She was an avid tennis player and golfer, especially at her winter home in Florida, a sports fan and an author of over 12 books. Her text book dating from the 1950’s,

, is still in use in many schools. She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Donald B. Wilson of Westwood and her children Susan King of Jamestown, RI, Amanda Curtin of Cambridge, Cynthia Wilson of the Netherlands, Christina Wilson of Cape Neddick, ME and Albert O. Wilson III of Breckenridge, CO. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. A private service will take place at St. Paul’s Church, Dedham. Burial will also be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Skip Wilson Memorial, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Hall, c/o Sabrina Karpe, 301 Massachusetts Avenue, Boston, MA. 02115.
