Ruth F. Southworth

Ruth Frances Southworth, a resident of Pocasset, formerly of West Roxbury and Manchester, New Hampshire, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011 at the Cape Cod Hospital after a long illness. She was 86. She was born in Quincy and was the daughter of Dr. John P. and Hazel J. (Alexander) Montague. Ruth graduated from Roslindale High School. She worked for 35 years as an operator and a secretary for New England Telephone Company in Boston and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club. Predeceased by her husband, the late Edward Southworth, and her sister, the late Evelyn V. Coyle. She is survived by her sister Gertrude M. Prouty of Cotuit and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held Friday, February 11, 2011 at 12 pm at Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale with a service immediately following at the funeral home at 1 pm. Burial in St. Joseph’s Cemetery West Roxbury.
