Roger Billings Jr., a resident of South Dennis since 1976, living in Plymouth the last 3 years, and formerly of Westwood for many years, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. He was 86. Roger was born in Winchester, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Roger Billings Sr. and Dorothy Kelley Billings. Roger served in the United States Navy during World War II. He graduated from Harvard University with the Class of 1949. Roger began working for Massachusetts Indemnity & Life Insurance Company in 1949 and retired in 1976 as Executive Vice President. Roger was an avid golfer. The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Emeritus of Plymouth for their caring, help and friendship. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Naomi (Atwood) Billings. He is survived by his two sons, Bruce G. Billings and his wife Marcia of Irvine, California and Scott W. Billings and his wife Calista Herndon of Kingston; his grandchildren, Jason R. Billings of Portland, Oregon and Brent A. Billings of Buffalo, New York. He is also survived by his brother Stanley Billings of Yarmouthport. Roger was the father of the late Roger Billings III. Visitation with the family will be held Thursday, January 24, 2013 at 12:30 pm with funeral services following at 1:30 pm at Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Burial will be in Old Westwood Cemetery. Donations in Roger’s memory may be made to Emeritus of Plymouth, Resident Activity Fund, 97 Warren Avenue, Plymouth, MA. 02360.
