Robert Tibbetts

Robert Newell Tibbettts, a lifelong resident of Norwood, MA succumbed to illness on April 9, 2025 at the Sunrise Assisted Living Center in Norwood. He was 90.  Bob was born November 27, 1934 in Norwood, the son of Newell White and Clara Belle (Curtis) Tibbetts.  He graduated from Norwood High School and earned his Bachelor Degree from Boston University.   In 1954 Bob enlisted in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1957.  He was employed as the treasurer for the TD Metcalf Printing Company. Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Emily (Walton) Tibbetts and by his cousin Philip Curtis, and his wife Karen, and their families. Bob's cousin Stephen passed away before him.

Bob joined the Orient Lodge of Masons, in Norwood, following in his father’s footsteps. He belonged to Blue Lodge, York Rite, and the Scottish Rite. His involvement expanded quickly past the town of Norwood. Bob became the Director of Volunteers at the Shriner’s Burn Institute of Boston, conducting tours, welcoming dignitaries and most importantly aided in scheduling and receiving the critical patients and their family.

In 2007, Bob was nominated by his Pastor at the First Congregational Church in Norwood for the Citizen of the Year Award. A member of the church for 64 years and a trustee at the church for more than twenty-five years, he was a sterling example to the congregation, displaying faith, ethics, and integrity. Bob sat on the Board of the Meals on Wheels program, and was the treasurer of the Norwood Scholarship Foundation, Dollars for Scholars. He also served as the Master of Ceremonies for the TONY (Ten Outstanding Norwood Youth) awards for several years. Bob loved to read and watch the Patriots and Red Sox. He and his high school sweetheart. Emily loved traveling, especially going on cruises. They eventually bought an RV and began camping up and down the East Coast.

Bob is already missed by those who have had the privilege of knowing him.

A Memorial Service, which will include religious and Masonic services, will be held on Saturday April 26th at 11 am at the First Congregational Church 100 Winter Street, Norwood MA with a reception to follow. Private burial will be at the Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
