Robert T. Wetzler

d. January 3, 2012

Wetzler, Robert Taylor – age 93, died in Norwood, MA on January 3, 2012
after a long illness.  Formerly of Cohasset, MA; New York City and Vero Beach,
FL, he recently moved to MA and is survived by his loving and cherished family
that includes his wife of 70 years, Audrey “Dree” (Mayforth); his daughters Anne
Settino of Westwood, MA and Sally Wetzler of Richmond, VA; son Rob Wetzler of
Mashpee, MA; grandson Christopher Settino of Burlington, VT; granddaughter, Kate
Skypeck and her husband Jason of Walpole, MA and great grandchildren Ben, Anna
and Will Skypeck.  He was predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Schloss.  Born in
Queens, NY to Robert and Anna Wetzler, he was raised in New York, graduated from
Dartmouth College in 1940, and served honorably as an officer in the U.S. Navy
during WWII.  As a resident of Cohassett for over 35 years, Bob was very active
in the community, yacht club and Unitarian church.  An avid sailor and skilled
boat builder, he sailed from England to Portugal to Bermuda and cruised the
Bahamas and the intercoastal waterway to Florida.  Bob moved to NYC to become
vice president of Guardian Life Insurance and, after a successful career in the
insurance industry, he retired as vice president of MetLife.  While living in
NY, Bob also taught business management at New York University and mentored
immigrants to improve their English and support their transition to American
culture.  Retiring to Florida, Bob and Dree maintained an active lifestyle,
golfing, attending theater and being active in the UU Fellowship of Vero Beach.
They enjoyed extensive travel, both domestic and international, and shared an
interest in learning about other parts of the world and cultures.  They enjoyed
Mediterranean and Nordic cruises and in later years, joined fellow travelers to
tour with Elderhostel.  The family wishes to thank ALL the staff at Sunrise at
Norwood for their loving, understanding and tender care and assistance; also the
loving supportive care from Vista Care Hospice, especially Ellen and Carmen.
Services and interment are private.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to
