Robert G. Harms

d. December 24, 2015

Robert G. Harms, a long time resident of Roslindale, passed away on December 24, 2015, at the age of 60.  Born in Mineola, New York, he was the son of the late Robert J. and Evelyn (Scanlon) Harms.  Bob enjoyed spending time with his family.  He especially liked being the first one up in the morning to get the coffee on and have that time to share with his brother-in-law, Steve.  Seeing his nephews off to school in the morning was another part of his day he enjoyed.  Bob liked to take long walks, for the exercise and sharing time with family members.  Looking at the old neighborhood and reminiscing was so much fun for him.  He enjoyed practicing his artwork and “beating” you at checkers or Chinese checkers and playing basketball and football with his nephews and their friends.  Teasing his siblings and entertaining his great nephew, Brayden, gave him much joy.  Bob’s family said he was the perfect “Big Brother”, “Uncle” and Great Uncle anyone could have and he will be sorely missed.

He was the loving brother of Maureen Cain and her husband William of South Carolina, Carleen S. Harms and Bill Shiffler of Vermont, Stephen M. Harms of Dedham and Diane C. Chaisson and her husband Stephen of Roslindale.  Dear uncle of Edward and James Butler, Lauren Duarte, Stephen, Michael and Nicole Chaisson and several great nephews and nieces.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at 9AM from the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Ave., Roslindale with a mass of Christian burial at 10AM at Holy Name Church, 1689 Centre St., West Roxbury followed by interment in the Gardens of Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury.  Visiting hours on Monday, January 4, 2015 from 4 to 8PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Ave. in Roslindale.
