Patricia A. (Mcgrath) Spada

d. December 7, 2010

Patricia A. Spada, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at the age of 51. Patty grew up the second youngest of six children. She attended St. Mary’s elementary school, Dedham High School, and then continued her education by graduating from hairdressing school, as well as Bentley College in Waltham, where she earned an Associates degree in Accounting. Patty was a hard worker from the beginning.  She was a successful hairdresser, cosmetologist, and accountant. She worked side by side with her husband running the family business, Spada Paving and Landscaping.  Patty loved working part time with her daughter, Dee Dee, at Estee Lauder.  At the time of her death, she had worked for J.M. Forbes & Co. of Boston in real estate management and accounting for 4 years.  She was committed to the community as an active member of St. Mary’s Church, and she volunteered as a Dedham Little League softball coach. She loved her team. Patty was treasurer of The Justin House Inc., a healing ministry for young adults trying to build a better life. The most important thing in Patty’s life was her family. She was a devoted daughter to her parents, John E. and Anna B. (Connolly) McGrath of Dedham, and she enjoyed caring for them. She married her husband, the late William F. Spada, on Valentine’s Day in 1982 but they were together for over 30 years. Patty was an incredible mother and dedicated wife. She loved trips to Cape Cod, shopping in Chatham, long beach days, bike riding the railway trails, and enjoying a good hot fudge sundae. Her laugh was infectious and very unique, one that will be remembered for a long time to come. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her children, William F. Spada Jr. of Dedham and Deirdre Spada of Dedham, who were the pride and joy of her life; her brothers,  John E. McGrath III of Dedham, Thomas C., and his wife Angela M. McGrath, of Attleboro, Paul JB, and his wife Karen D. McGrath, of Roslindale; and her sister Sheila M., and her husband Michael Jewel of Randolph. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Friday, December 17th  at 10 O’clock at St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St., Dedham, followed by burial in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.
