Violet P. (Perkins) Phillips, a resident of West Roxbury, died on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at the age of 89.  Born in Boston, she was the daughter of William and Ethel (Stillman) Perkins.  Violet lived in Dorchester for over 50 years before moving to West Roxbury.  She worked at the Federal Reserve, John Hancock, and Wayside Press, where she was employed for 25 years.  Violet liked to bake, sew and enjoyed going to rummage sales.  She was a member of the Stratford Street United Church and was always willing to volunteer for any activity.  Mrs. Phillips was predeceased by her husband, Donald Brown Phillips.  She is survived by her son, Steven D. Phillips, and his wife Tammy, of Raymond, ME, and her nephew Richard Eames, and his wife Christine, of Foxboro.  Violet was a devoted grandmother to her many grandchildren, including the late Christopher S. Phillips.   She was the sister of the late Mildren Eames.  Visiting hours will be Friday, October 5, 2012 from 10 AM to noon followed by a funeral service at noon at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale, MA.  Interment will follow in The Garderns of Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury.  In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Stratford Street United Church, 77 Stratford St., West Roxbury, MA 02132.
