Stella (Kallas) Easland, a longtime resident of Westwood, died Friday, January 1, 2021 at Benchmark Senior Living on Clapboardtree in Norwood. She was 91. Stella was born April 6, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York, the only daughter of the Reverend John Kalapothakis and Nicoletta (Tsaras) Kalapothakis, immigrants from Greece. She graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor’s degree and completed most of her courses towards a Master’s degree. Stella worked for 20 years as an assistant editor for Houghton Mifflin Company and then 20 years as a switchboard operator for the Boston Symphony Orchestra. She was the wife of the late Robert Peter Easland Jr. who predeceased her in 1990 and the sister of the late Louis Callas, and the late George Kalapothakis. Stella is survived by her three sons, Robert Peter Easland III of Norwood, John Easland of Millis, and David Easland of Westwood; her daughter, Janet Yavarow, and her husband Steven, of Norfolk; and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Andrea Yavarow. Services at St. Gregory the Theologian Church in Mansfield and interment in New Westwood Cemetery in Westwood will be private due to covid attendance restrictions. In lieu of flowers donations to the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Jamaica Plain, MA 021340 would be appreciated.
