None Robert Boari

Robert Donald “Bob” Boari, a resident of Westwood for 40 years, died Wednesday, July 28th, 2010 at his home in Westwood after a long illness.  He was 85.  Bob was born October 23, 1924 in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of Italien immigrants Gabriel and Charlotte (Pozzi) Boari.  He served in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946 during World War Two.  After the war he attended Northeastern University, where he earned both his Bachelors degree and his Masters degree.  Mr. Boari worked as a distribution manager for Goodyear Tire and Rubber for 23 years, then worked in distribution for Stop and Shop and finally for Digital, from where he retired in 1992.  Bob was a member of the Westwood American Legion, and of the Bridge Club at the Westwood Council on Aging.  He also served as an usher at St. Denis Church in Islington.  Bob loved gardening and the outdoors.  He volunteered his time tending the gardens at the Westwood Council on Aging.  He especially enjoyed spending time in New Hampshire where he was still waterskiing and snow skiing in his 80’s.  Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Claire Janice (Hennessey) Boari; his three sons, Douglas R. Boari, and his wife Mary Ann, of Woburn, Gregg R. Boari, and his wife Susan, of Burlington, and Peter D. Boari, and his wife Stacy, of Plainville; his sister, Pauline Barnes, and her husband John, of Rockville, Maryland; and his seven grandchildren, Micayla, Adam, Zachary, Drew, Amanda, Sarah, and Ryan.  He was the brother of the late Elmo Boari.  Visiting hours will be held Friday, July 30th from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood.  Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home Saturday at 9 AM and proceed to St. Denis Church, 157 Washington Street, Islington, Massachusetts for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o clock.  Interment will follow at the New Westwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Vernon Cancer Center, c/o Newton Wellesley Hospital, 2014 Washington Street, Newton, MA 02462 would be appreciated.
