Naomi (Atwood) Billings, a resident of South Dennis since 1976, and formerly of Westwood and Cambridge, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the Eagle Pond Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Dennis. She was 79. Mrs Billings was born June 3, 1930 in Long Branch, New Jersey, the only child of William B., and Emma (Atterbeck) Atwood. Naomi grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts and graduated from Cambridge Ringe and Latin High School and then atended a year of art school. She was an accomplished watercolor artist and crafter who especially enjoyed making Christmas ornaments. Naomi was a talented figure skater and member of the Cambridge Skating Club who, during the 1960’s, taught figure skating at the Rocky Woods Reservation in Medfield. After moving to South Dennis she became a member of Liberty Hall, she volunteered as a warden at the polls in South Dennis, and was a registrar in the Clerk’s office at the Town Hall in South Dennis during the 1980’s. Naomi was the wife of 60 years of Roger Billings Jr.; the mother of Bruce G. Billings, and his wife Marcia, of Irvine, California, Scott W. Billings, and his fiance Calista, of Kingston, Massachusetts, and the late Roger Billings 3rd; and the grandmother of Jason R. Billings of Portland, Oregon, and Brent A. Billings of Oak Harbor, Washington. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday, March 1st at 2 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood followed by burial in Old Westwood Cemetery. Visitation with her family will be held from 1-2 PM prior to the funeral.
