None Lynn Duquette

Lynn (Hooker) Duquette, age 64, died very peacefully on January 15, 2016 after a brief illness. She grew up in Westwood (Class of ’69,) lived in Medfield for 25 years, and recently resided in Holliston. Lynn was the eldest daughter of the late Robert Hooker and Janet Hooker. Lynn was the cherished wife of Michael Duquette for over 32 years and the grateful mother of Todd Duquette and his wife, Jessica; Stephanie Wilson and her husband, Kevin; Peter Duquette; and Scott Duquette and his fiancée, Lynn Pizzi. She was the proud and loving Nana to Joshua Duquette, Maren Duquette, and Lauren Duquette (Todd and Jessica); Chloe Wilson (Kevin and Stephanie); Michaela Duquette (Peter and Ashlee Ayala); and Sebastian Duquette and Samson Duquette (Scott and Lynn). Lynn was the beloved sister to Jane Howard, and her husband, Charles, and Richard Hooker, and his wife, Diane. She was aunt to Amy Howard, Tracy and Kate Bullock, Molly Howard, Carly Howard, Andrew Howard, Daniel Howard, Jason Hooker, and Katie Hooker. She was cousin to Bruce Porter and his wife, Linda; Martha Boettcher; Catherine Gannon and her husband, Michael; Stephen Porter; Susan Bishop; Stephen Bishop; Nancy Cardoza and her husband, Bob; Julie Shea; and their children. Lynn also had many treasured friends who faithfully and prayerfully walked with her through life, especially during this recent trial.

Lynn was an enthusiastic member of Bible Study Fellowship for many years, serving as a children’s leader and area class administrator. For over 10 years, she served on the board of Walking in Light Ministries, which works with children, teens, and families primarily in the Worcester area. She served as director of children’s ministry at the church she whole-heartedly loved, New England Chapel, for six years. During a 2010 trip to Haiti, she and the team she traveled with were there during the earthquake, and the experience made a huge impact on her life. Within a short period of time, she began to make numerous trips to Haiti, traveling there a total of 21 times. She was instrumental in raising funds to build a boys orphanage. Lynn volunteered on a full-time basis with Mission E4, the organization she had traveled to Haiti with, serving as the director of child services. She formed special friendships in Haiti, worked on learning the Creole language, and considered Haiti to be her second home. Along with the work she did, Lynn loved spending time with family, especially at the beach or pool. She also loved reading, learning new things, and cooking.

As much as Lynn was “not ready to leave the party,” she never doubted God’s perfect plan for her life. And, because of the decision she made 25 years ago to follow Jesus, she had no doubts, either, that she would leave this life she loved to begin the next chapter of her eternal life in a specially-prepared perfect place.

A memorial service of celebration will be held at New England Chapel, 40 Kenwood Circle, Franklin, MA on Saturday, January 23, 2016, at 11:00 AM.  In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to:
