Jacqueline Lucille (Giguere) Poor, a resident of Norwood since 1997, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 peacefully at her home in Norwood, surrounded by her friends and family, after a three year battle with ovarian cancer. She was 61. Jackie was born March 15, 1948 in Worcester, Massachusetts, a daughter of Albert and Lucille (Gonyea) Giguere. She was a native of Massachusetts but had lived in Delaware and Texas for many years. She returned to Massachusetts in 1994 to live near her friends and family. Jackie began her working career as an intensive care nurse at Beth Israel Hospital, and subsequently worked as an accountant and a quality control manager for General Electric. She was a graduate of the nursing program at Quinsigamond College in Worcester and held a degree in accounting from Wesley College in Dover, Delaware. Her generosity was evident in all aspects of her life, from mentoring colleagues to numerous philanthropic contributions. She loved books, travel, her film group, the arts, animals, and cooking. She will be dearly missed. Jackie was the beloved mother of Tyler Poor of Norwood and Amy Poor of Seattle, Washington; the dear sister of Janice Williams of Loveland, Colorado, and Elaine Carroll of Newburyport; and the dear friend of Anne Settino of Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Wednesday, November 4th at 10:30 AM at Grace Episcopal Church, 150 Chapel Street, Norwood. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, November 3rd from 5:30-8:30 PM at Jacqueline’s home. Remembrances may be made to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Avenue (BR), Boston, MA 02215.
