Hope Slade Jansen, formerly of Dedham and Westport Harbor, Massachusetts, died on April 25, 2010, at her home in Westwood at the age of 101. She was born in Fall River on September 18, 1908, a daughter of Everett Nelson Slade and Asenath Borden Slade. She was educated at the B.M.C. Durfee High School, the Baldwin School, and at Vassar College (Class of 1930). Mrs. Jansen received the Master of Landscape Architecture from the Cambridge School of Architecture in 1933. She was married to Thomas Egbert Jansen, Jr., on May 9, 1936; he predeceased her on March 17, 1983. Mrs. Jansen practiced landscape architecture and was a watercolor painter. Among her many volunteer activities were these: painting poster-paint scenes on the windows seasonally at Children’s Hospital; designing a period garden for Gore Place; and serving on the vestry of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Dedham. She had been a member of the Acoaxet Club, the Chilton Club, the Fragments Society, and the Massachusetts Society of Colonial Dames. She leaves four children: Caroline (Mrs. L. Mason Knox), Trintje DuBois Jansen, Thomas Borden Bradford Jansen, and Nicholas Slade Jansen, all of Westport Harbor; two daughters-in-law; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four nephews.  A memorial service will be held at St. Paul’s on May 8 at 11:30 am; there will be no calling hours. Burial services will be private. In place of flowers, contributions may be made to the Westport River Watershed Alliance (P. O. Box 3427, Westport MA 02790-0703).
