Helen L. Single, a longtime resident of West Roxbury, died Sunday, November 11, 2012 in her 102nd year at the Colonial Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Weymouth.  Helen was born December 22, 1910 in Boston, Massachusetts, a daughter of Louis and Christina (Epplert) Single.  Helen worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts until her retirement in 1972. Helen was a member of the Eastern Star for 74 years, first joining Roslindale Chapter 104 in March of 1948.  She served as a Worthy Matron while in the Roslindale Chapter.  She joined Samoset Chapter 109 when Roslindale merged with them and at the same time affiliated with Contemtment Chapter 184 which she joined when Samoset merged with Contentment. Helen was the sister of the late Katharine C. Blechstein and is survived by her nephew Albert Black, and his wife Carmen, of Santa Rosa, California; her grandnephews, Donald Black, and his wife Deborah Byron, Paul Black, and his wife Esra, of Dana Point, California, and James Black of Irvine, California; her grandniece, Lauren Payne, and her husband Sloan, of Dana Point, California; and her great grandnephews, Cooper Black, Connor Black, Jake Black, and Jana Black.  Visiting hours will be held Sunday, November 18 from 2 to 4 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Monday, November 19th at 10 AM at the funeral home followed by burial in Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
