George J. Flynn, a resident of Dedham, died Friday,November 17, 2017 at his home in Dedham. He was 76. George was born in Marlbank, Ontario, Canada, the son of James Francis and Mary Elizabeth (Lawlor) Flynn. George worked as the marketing director for NRJ Bus Company and then as the Executive Director of the SEEM Collaborative. He enjoyed gardening and barbequing. George was the beloved husband of Valerie Ardi Flynn and the dear father of Paul Flynn, and his wife Amy, of Waterloo, Ontario, Carrie Flynn, and her husband Christopher Poshni of Oakville, Ontario, and Brian A. Shactman, and his wife Katie, of Chicago. He is also survived by his brothers Terry Flynn of Orleans, Ontario, Edward Flynn of Almonte, Ontario, and his sister Margaret Shorey of Brockville, Ontario. He was the proud grandfather of Connor, Brendan, Megan, and Lauren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday at 9:00 am at St. Susanna’s Church, 262 Needham St, Dedham. Interment will be private. He was a dedicated teacher and educational leader in creating a more inclusive environment for all children in public schools.
