Clementine (Gielen) Minichiello, a longtime resident of Dedham and Canton, passed away on Thursday, March 13, 2014 in Norwood, MA. She was 89 years old. Clementine was born on July 20, 1924 in Maastricht, Netherlands. She was the daughter of Johannes and Elise (Loenard) Gielen, and the dear sister of the late Dr. Theo Gielen. Clementine married Arthur Minichiello in her hometown of Maastricht. She and Arthur then emigrated to the United States where they would start a family. Clementine spent some time as a teacher, but spent much of her time at home raising her two children, Frank and Vivian. She was a member of the Dutch American Club, and spent much of her time perfecting her skills in needlework. She was very talented at knitting, embroidery, and crocheting and had made numerous sweaters and rugs. Clementine was the beloved wife of the late Arthur Minichiello who predeceased her in 2001 after over 55 years of marriage. She is survived by her son Frank Minichiello and his wife Mary Ellen, of North Haven, CT, and her daughter Vivian DeVincenzo of Canton, MA. Clementine is the dear grandmother of Eliot Minichiello, Molly Minichiello, Brett Minichiello, Nick DeVincenzo, Michelle DeVincenzo, and Lisa DeVincenzo. A remembrance and reception will be held on Saturday, March 22 at 1PM, at the Lafayette House, 109 Washington St., Foxboro, MA. Interment will be private. Donations in her name may be sent to the Department of Veterans Affairs, Edith Nourse Rodgers Memorial Veteran’s Hospital, 200 Springs Rd.
