Carmelo Filice, a longtime resident of Hyde Park, died Thursday, May 18th at his home. He was 87. Carmelo was born July 24, 1935 in Piane Crati, Italy, a son of Joseph and Teresa (Mauro) Filice. Carmelo worked as a painter and maintenance man for the Dedham Savings Bank. He was a former member of the Eagles lodge in Hyde Park where he enjoyed playing poker, and a sportsman who enjoyed hunting in Vermont and Canada.
Carmelo is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carmela (Carpino) Filice; his two daughters, Rosalba Adkins of Framingham, and Anna Maria Filice-Rickner, and her husband Todd, of Florida; his son, Robert Filice, and his wife Angela, of Medfield; his five grandchildren, Andre Adkins, Salvatore and Ivana Castaldi, and Robert and Cameron Filice; and his great granddaughter, Rosalie Castaldi.
Visiting hours will be held Sunday, May 21st from 4 to 6 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home starting at 9 am Monday and proceed with us to St. Anne’s Church, 90 West Milton Street, Readville for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o’ clock. Interment will be private.
