None Carmela Fallavollita

d. August 6, 2023

Carmela M. (Rubino) Fallavollita, a lifelong resident of Readville, passed away on Aug. 6, 2023. She was 92 years old. She was the beloved daughter of the late John and Mary (Bruno) Rubino, loving wife of the late John A. Fallavollita, who proudly served in the Navy during WWII, and the dear sister of the late Liberato Rubino.  She is survived by her many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Carmela was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union and worked as a seamstress in the China Town garment district for many years until her retirement in 1992. She was the family’s go-to person for sewing projects large or small. She loved to crochet and made countless afghan blankets to give as gifts to family and friends. Carmela loved spending time with family and friends, traveling, dancing on Saturday nights and sitting in the sun on the beach. Her calm, quiet manner and her great love for family and friends will be deeply missed by all. The family would like to acknowledge and thank all the AccentCare Hospice staff who compassionately cared for Carmela the past two years, and especially during her final days. We will be forever grateful.

Visitation for Carmela will be held on Friday August 11, 2023, from 11AM to noon, at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St, Dedham, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at noon. Interment at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105, or online at stjude.org would be appreciated.
