Adrien (Andy) Beaudoin, age 86, of Jacksonville, Florida passed away peacefully on September 25, 2013 following a courageous fight against Parkinson’s Plus disease. Throughout this fight, as he had through his whole life, he maintained his warm, caring, and friendly manner, never losing his sense of humor.
Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, Andy joined the Navy during World War II and participated in the D-Day invasion. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the American Theatre Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Medal – 1 Star. He was educated at KeeneStateTeachers College and ClaremontCollege, and he earned his Doctorate in Education at the University of Alabama. Andy worked as a college professor, touching the lives of many students, until his retirement at the age of 71. Throughout his life, Andy had a passion for learning new things, reading books, enjoying many sports, and collecting antiques with his wife, Rita. Together they traveled in search of merchandise for their small antique store in Bayard, Florida.
Andy is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rita, his sister Rose Denomme, his four loving children, six grandchildren and their spouses: Carol Beaudoin and her daughter Nicole, Jeanne Drackert and her daughter Michelle, Tom Beaudoin, his wife Denise and their children Andrew, Amanda and Edward, and Paula Beaudoin, her husband Jim Hughes and her son Austin and his wife Emily. Andy was predeceased by his parents, Thaddee and Marie, and his other brothers and sisters Bill, Yvonne, Sister Germaine, Roland and Armand.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham, Massachusetts. A private burial will take place the next day at the MassachusettsNationalCemetery in Bourne, Massachusetts.
