Michael G. Molyneux

Michael Gerard Molyneux, a resident of Fox Hill Village in Westwood, and formerly of Plainville, Darien, Connecticut and Richmond Hill, New York, died at age 70 peacefully surrounded by his family at home. Michael was born November 25, 1954 in Rockville Centre, New York, the only child of James Michael and Jeanne (Cartier) Molyneux. Michael was a proud graduate of Regis High School in New York City, and Princeton and Stanford Universities culminating in a master’s degree in journalism. His passion for running carried him over the finish lines of the New York and London Marathons. He worked for 23 years as a copy editor for the New York Times before earning a certificate in Philanthropy from BU and serving 9 years as Executive Director for the Charity Guild in Brockton. He was married to Lisa G. Matthews, MD, a Princeton classmate, in 1987, and lived for 18 years in Connecticut, where he became the proud father of Paul, Thomas, and Emily Molyneux. After moving to Sharon, MA in 2005, Michael spent countless hours volunteering- as an officer of the Sharon Rotary Club, for the Father Bullock Road Race, and for many other charitable causes. Retiring in 2017, Michael moved to Westwood. At Fox Hill, Mike enjoyed Scrabble, crossword puzzle tournaments, attending the BSO, and helping his team triumph in Trivial Pursuit matches. He also enjoyed summers and ski holidays in Sunapee, NH where he made many additional friends. Michael served for many years as Class Agent for Regis High School and was on his class’s 50th Reunion planning committee. He is survived by Lisa, his son Paul and his significant other, Tara Bellucci, of East Boston; son Thomas, and his partner Chandler Che, of Beverly; and daughter Emily and her husband Joshua Molyneaux, of Jackson Heights, NY. He is also survived by his cousin Laura DeLuca and her husband Joseph, of Rockville Centre, NY and Tim Cartier and his wife Charity, of Rockwall, TX. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, February 23rd from 4-6 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High St, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Mass TUESDAY, February 25th at 10 am at St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High St, Westwood. Interment will be private.
