Melvina A. Pacheco

Melvina Ann (Burke) Pacheco, a longtime resident of Dedham, died Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at her home in Dedham with her family by her side.  She was 79.  Mel was born October 10, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only child of Thomas James and Melvina M. (Cote) Burke.  She earned her nursing degree from the Beth Israel School of Nursing and spent 35 years of her 57 year career as a registered nurse in the emergency room at the Beth Israel Hospital where she treated everyone who crossed her path with kindness, compassion, and her legendary nursing skills.  Mel was the wife of the late James C. Pacheco and is survived by her daughter, Karen A. Driscoll, and her husband W. Scott Cluett III, of Roslindale; her son, Kenneth T. Driscoll, and his wife Cindy, of Pouch Cove, Newfoundland, Canada; and her three grandchildren, Aidan, Kyle, and Abigail Driscoll.  Rather than a funeral service, Mel requested several parties in her honor.  Get together and go have some fun!  In lieu of flowers please consider hitting the open road, sharing a cup of tea and a yarn with a good friend, or performing a random act of kindness for your neighbor to remember and celebrate her and the life she shared with us.  Interment will be in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
