Marna Lee (Perkins) Persechini, a longtime resident of Roslindale, died Monday, February 8, 2016 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. She was 80. Marna was born November 4, 1935 in Trent, Texas, the daughter of Coleman Jackson and Matilee L. (Parker) Perkins. After high school Marna enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served two tours of duty. She was honorably discharged with the rank of colonel. Marna earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Community Planning from the University of Massachusetts and worked as a career counselor for The Work Place in Boston. She was a familiar face in the Roslindale area, volunteering at the Farmer’s Market, for Main Street, and as an election official. Marna was the wife of the late Daniel Francis Persechini, who predeceased her in 1989. She is survived by her two sons, Daniel Persechini of Mansfield, and Michael Persechini of Roslindale; her brother, William Perkins of Texas; and her five grandchildren, Zachary, Taylor, Kelsey, Colin, and Kaylee. Visiting hours will be held Friday, February 12th from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home Saturday at 9 am and proceed with us to Sacred Heart Church, 169 Cummins Highway, Roslindale for Marna’s Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o clock. After cremation private interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in West Roxbury.
