Marjorie L. Sinclair

Marjorie Louise (Walter) Sinclair, a resident of Worcester for the past two years, and formerly of Newton, died unexpectedly at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester.  She was 91.  Marge was born May 7, 1926 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, the only child of John Allen and Dorothy (Beetam) Walter.  She grew up in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania.  Marge attended Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania where she graduated with a bachelor of arts degree, majoring in music and history.  It was at Bucknell that she met her future husband.  After college Marge taught history in Duncannon, Pennsylvania and then worked for the telephone company.  She volunteered at churches, helping with programs that settled Cuban refugees, and addressing racial issues.  She also sang in choirs, served on music committees, and worked on numerous Christian Education committees.  Marge volunteered as a member of the Pastoral Relations Committee of the American Baptist Churches of Massachusetts and helped produce a guide for use by local congregations; she volunteered at Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, Massachusetts; volunteered for the Red Cross, the Cancer Society, and other charitable organizations; and she sang in the Ocean Park Association’s choir in Ocean Park, Maine for decades. Marjorie was the beloved wife of the Rev. Dr. George H. Sinclair, Jr.,  for over 66 years, and is the dear mother of Barbara Sinclair Ward, and her husband Tom, of Worcester, MA and James Sinclair, and his wife Julie, of Haverhill, MA.  She was the loving grandmother of Ashley Ward, Alexander Sinclair, and his wife Stephanie, Andrew Sinclair, and Siera Sinclair. Marge was the proud great grandmother of Alexandra Sinclair.  She was predeceased by three grandchildren; Jessica, Scotland, and John Allen Sinclair.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Service Friday at 1:30 PM at the First Baptist Church, 111 Park Ave, Worcester .  Private interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery in Saco, Maine.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Ocean Park Association, P.O. Box 7296, Ocean Park, Maine, to support music programming would be appreciated.
