Marjorie Louise (Arnott) Civitarese, a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Wednesday, Christmas Day, 2019 at the Norwood Hospital in Norwood after a brief illness. She was 92. Marjorie was born July 23, 1927 in Dedham, Massachusetts, the last surviving child of the eight children of William Charles and Sadie May (Soulnier) Arnott. She graduated from Dedham High School and then studied hairdressing in preparation of owning and operating her own business, Marjorie’s Beauty Salon, in Dedham Square. After her “retirement” she continued hairdressing at her daughter’s shop, Marie’s Hair Design in Oakdale Square, Dedham. Marjorie was also a talented organist. She enjoyed speak-easies in her younger years, and scratch cards, Wheel of Fortune, and lobster as she grew older. Her overriding joy however was the enjoyment she got from her many friends and family. Marjorie was the wife of the late Raphael Civitarese who predeceased her in 2009, and the mother of the late Marie Marsh-DePinho. She is survived by her son, Paul Civitarese, and his wife Donna, of Foxboro; her three daughters, Charlene Magee of Braintree, Michelle L. McColgan, and her husband Steven, of Dedham, and Ann Pucillo of Franklin; as well as 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and “too many to count” great great grandchildren. Majorie was the sister of the late William C. Arnott, Loretta G. Brown, Theresa E. Prejean, Sadie M. “Sally” Benson, Viola M. Neilly, Mary C. “Tina” Scott, and Robertha V. Civitarese. Visitation with Marjorie’s family will be held Monday, December 30th from 10 am until noon followed by her funeral service at noon at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham, MA. Interment will be in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham. In lieu of flowers donations to the American Lung Association, 1661 Worcester Road, Suite 301, Framingham, MA 01701 would be appreciated.
