Marion Lorraine Towne,  a Westwood resident for over 80 years, died Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Harrington House in Walpole. She was 93 years old. She was born in Southwest Harbor, Maine, the daughter of the late Arnold W.  and Bernice (Warren) Weed.  Marion graduated from Dedham High School. She was a foster mother for the Home for Little Wanderers in Jamaica Plain for over 40 years. Marion opened her home and fostered over 250 children throughout 20 of those years.  Her love and caring nature with children rewarded her in so many ways including being named Foster Mother of the Year several times.  She was also involved for over fifteen years with the MMO Program, Mothers Morning Out, at the Islington Community Church in Westwood. Marion was an avid bingo player.   She was predeceased by her husband George Warren Towne and is survived by her children George W.  Towne Jr.  and his wife Robyn of Australia, Marilyn Flynn of Foxboro,  Donald B. Towne and his wife Elizabeth of Norwood, and Eric A. Towne of Westwood. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.  Marion was the mother of the late Richard J. Towne and David Towne and the sister of the late Donald Weed,  Elliot Weed, Alta McLaren and Dorothy Lapham.   A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, September 15th at 10 AM at the First Baptist Church of Westwood, 808 High Street, Westwood.  Burial will be private. Donations in Marion’s memory may be made to the Home for Little Wanderers, 161 Huntington Avenue, Jamaica Plain, MA. 02130.
