Malcolm Daniel “Danny” Morrison, a resident of Walpole, and formerly of Westwood, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2020 at his home after a long battle with cancer. He was 75. Danny was born February 25, 1945 in Boston, Massachusetts, one of the five children of Malcolm Francis and Pauline (Gerrish) Morrison. He grew up in Westwood, graduated from Westwood High School, and immediately enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a submariner during the Vietnam War era. After his military service Danny studied to become an electrician, originally working at his own business and later working as a union electrician for Local 103 of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW). He was a longtime active member, and former trustee, of Sandy Terraces, a member of Blue Hill Baths, and an active member of the First Baptist Church of Westwood where he served on the Board of Trustees and the most recent pulpit committee. Danny is the beloved husband of Kristin Lynn (Sellers), the late Barbara Maud (Saliewicz), and his former wife Jane B. (Anderson) Morrison. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy J. Blum, and her husband Jan, of Westwood; his five grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, Marisa, Michaela, and Hannah Blum; his sister, Priscilla R. Morrison of Needham; and his aunt, Jeanne Morrison of Jamiaca Plain. Danny was predeceased by his three brothers, James Burton Morrison, John Gerrish Morrison, and David Norman Morrison. He is further survived by their wives, Rita (Mrs. James) of Norwood, Gail (Mrs. John) of Falmouth, and Susan (Mrs. David) of Ocean Park, Maine; his nephews, Jonathan Morrison, and his wife Christine, and Peter Morrison, and his wife Liz; his nieces, Robin (Morrison) Marsh, Sara (Morrison) Graves, Amy Rivelli, and Jennifer Rivelli; his sisters-in-law, Gail Sellers, and Trudy Stefansson, and her husband Hilmar; and his brother-in-law Jayson Sellers, and his wife Sarah.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Danny’s Memorial Service Saturday, June 13th, 2020 at 11 am at the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood. Interment on Saturday, October 17, 2020 will be private. Relatives and friends who wish to watch the livestreamed graveside service should log on to https://harborview.live/ by 11 am on October 17th.
