Leona Melina (St. Germain) Landon passed away on March 5, 2016 at the age of 104 years. Born and raised in Waltham, she was the daughter of Arthur and Melina (Martin) St. Germain. A graduate of LaSalle College, located in Auburndale, MA, Leona worked for her late husband at the Industrial Tube Corporation and later was the administrative secretary for Boston and Taunton Trucking. She was an active member of the Traffic Club, an organization of administrators of regional cargo transportation. The town of Westwood presented Leona with the Golden Cane as she was celebrated as the oldest living resident of Westwood. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Horace Zebina Landon who died in 1957. They had been residents of Westwood since the early forties and Leona remained a member of St. Denis Parish in Islington. Every summer would be spent with the family at their cottage in Greensboro, Vermont.
Leona is survived by her children, Melina Helen Francisco of Norwood, Horace Burgess Landon of Franklin, and James Landon and his wife Joan of Saint George, Vermont, her grandchildren; Elizabeth and Jonathan Landon, Peter Francisco, Christine and Deborah Landon, Scott Landon, Shirley King and Jeannette Mitchell. She is also survived by her thirteen great grandchildren and two great great granddaughters and her brother Albert St. Germain of Grandview, Missouri. She was predeceased by her brothers, Edgar, Arthur, Paul, Wilfred, James and Raymond St. Germain and granddaughter Susan Landon and daughter-in-law Eileen, wife of Horace B. Landon.
Relatives and friends will gather at the Folsom Funeral Home at 649 High St. in Westwood on Thursday, March 10, 2016 starting at 9 AM and proceed to her Mass of Christian burial at 10 AM at St. Denis Church at 157 Washington St. in Westwood. Interment will be in Old Westwood Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 7 to 9PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the Angell Memorial Animal Hospital, 350 So. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130
