Kenneth Thomas DeAvila, a resident of Dedham, died Sunday, June 17, 2018 at his home in Dedham. He was 80. Ken was born April 13, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts to Thomas Emmanuel and Caroline C. (Gebhardt) DeAvila. After high school he joined the Airforce and served from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1959. Ken worked as a carpenter for the Dedham School Department. An avid sportsman, he was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Easton Rod and Gun Club. He also was a member of the Savin Hill Yacht Club and of the Jacob Jones Post of the VFW in Dedham. Ken is survived by his wife of 51 years, Gayle Lorraine (Harling) DeAvila; his son, Erik Thomas DeAvila, and his partner Stephanie Puleo, of Dedham; his brother, Richard T. DeAvila of North Attleboro; his three grandchildren, Brittany, Paige, and Thomas; and his two great grandchildren, Adrianna and Liam. He was the uncle of the late Theresa DeAvila. Services and interment in Gethsemane Cemetery in West Roxbury will be private.
