Kenneth Hjalmar Carlson, a longtime resident of Hyde Park, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington after a long illness.  He was 80.  Kenneth was born December 7, 1932 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only child of John Hjalmar and Astrid Victoria (Anderson) Carlson, immigrants from Sweden.  He worked for 26 years as a maintenance man in the athletic department at Curry College in Milton until his retirement in June of 2006.  Ken was a member of the First Baptist Church of Westwood and had belonged to the Lutheran Club, the Acquillo Club in Boston, and the Viking Club in Quincy.  He enjoyed collecting baseball cards, coins, and military memorobilia.  Ken is survived by his wife Rosalie Ann (Gustafson) Carlson; his two sons, David Kenneth Carlson, and his wife Lynn, of Norton and Douglas John Carlson of Hyde Park; and his five grandchildren, Victoria, Ashley, Laura, Emily, and Jonathan.  Visiting hours will be held Sunday, April 28th from 2-5 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Service Sunday, May 5th 2013 at 3 PM at the First Baptist Church of Westwood.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Memorial Fund of the First Baptist Church, 808 High Street, Westwood, MA 02090 or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.
