Kenneth C. Bragg

Kenneth C. Bragg, age 69, of Dedham, MA, formerly of Jamaica Plain, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends after a brave fight for fourteen months, on May 28, 2017 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.  He was the son of the late Kenneth L. Bragg and Margaret I Bragg. He is survived by his loving wife, Abby, and the double pride of his life, son Brendan Bragg of LA, California and Stephanie Bragg of Norwood, his two sisters, Sandra Bragg of West Roxbury, and Barbara Shine of Medfield, plus his nephew Kenneth Shine, and niece Heidi Thony.  Ken was a graduate of Boston English High School.  He received an undergraduate degree from Curry College where he met his true love; his life-Partner and wife, Abby.  He ran the college radio station, got them started on their FM license and went on to earn a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Suffolk University.

Early in his career, Ken was a member of the MA House of Representative Ways and Means Committee staff, then was hired as Facilities Director for the MA DPH Lemuel Shattuck Hospital, shepherded in more than $19 million in capitol upgrades for the facility.  In 1998, the newly elected Norfolk Attorney requested Ken’s presence on his staff where he stayed as Director of Human Resources until his retirement.

Ken, named by the Quincy Patriot Ledger, as a “Political Activist” was an intense loyal friend and advisor to many candidates running for offices in Dedham: School Committtee, Selectman, Town Moderator and State Representative.  Ken loved the mechanics of campaigning.

Ken’s blood is colored green due to his never ending devotion to the Saint Kevin Emerald Knights Drum and Bugle Corps.  He marched with the Junior Corps back in the sixties, and was a member of the Senior Corps up until his passing.  Deep into the Drum Corps activity, Ken announced the CYO Nationals, CYO Circuit Finals, Boston Crusaders Color guard competitions, writer/photographer/layout artist for Drum Corps News.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday  from 5-8 PM at Folsom’s Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday at 11 am at the funeral home followed by burial in Brookdale Cemetery , Dedham.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Animal Rescue League of Dedham, 55 Annas Place, Dedham, MA  02026 or Dana-Farber Hospital, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA
