Joseph Charles Jacobs, a longtime resident of Norwood, died Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at his home in Wrentham. He was 81. Joseph was born January 5, 1940 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only child of Charles Joseph and Edna Lillian (Matthews) Jacobs Kouroyen. Joe enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served for three years, being honorably discharged in 1960. He studied the plumbing trade and became a Master Plumber and the owner/operator of J.C. Jacobs Plumbing in South Norwood. He was also the former Plumbing Inspector in Norwood and Sharon, and a Past President of the Massachusetts Association of the Plumbing, Heating and Cooling Contractors, the oldest trade association in the construction industry. Joe was a member of the Marine Corps League, the Norwood VFW, the Norwood Knights of Columbus, and the Norwood Elks. He was active in Norwood youth sports having been a coach as well as serving on the Executive Board of Norwood Baseball. He also was an avid Boston sports fan, a sporting clay enthusiast and avid fisherman. Joe was the beloved husband for 54 years of Joan Marie (Sharkey) Jacobs, and the dear father of Joseph C. Jacobs Jr., of Norwood, and Janet Marie (Jacobs) Hogan, and her husband Christopher, of North Attleboro. He was the proud grandfather of Kathryn M. and Samuel J. Hogan. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, July 18th from 4 to 8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home starting at 9:45 am Monday, July 19th and process with us to St. Catherine of Siena Church, 547 Washington Street, Norwood for his Funeral Mass at 11 o clock. Interment with military honors will follow at Highland Cemetery in Norwood. In lieu of flowers donations to the Norwood Scholarship Foundation, PO Box 112, Norwood, MA 02062 or to the Old Colony Hospice, 321 Manley Street, West Bridgewater, MA 02379 would be appreciated.
