John Rippey “Rip” Young of Dover, passed away suddenly at his home April 1st. He was 76. Rip was born in Stamford, Connecticut on August 18, 1933 to Lloyd and Dorothy (Irving) Young. He spent his childhood in Connecticut, and attended the Taft School; a prestigious, private, preparatory high school. He often spoke of his fondness for the school, and how it prepared it’s students for their futures. After graduating from the Taft School, Rip attended Middlebury College in Middlebury, Vermont. His career highlights include positions at Shawmut Bank, and the Sheraton Corporation: where he retired as Senior Vice President and Treasurer. Rip is survived by his wife Lois (Ronk); his children Mark F. Young of Mendham, New Jersey, Cynthia P. Low of Mystic, Connecticut, Pamela H. Low of Longmeadow, Remsen M. Kinne of Piedmont, California, and Corbin K. Kinne of Longmeadow. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren: Matthew, Jennifer, James, Taylor, Aden, Katharine, Maximilian and Tucker, as well as his brother, Peter Young and his family. Services and Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donation to the Taft School, 110 Woodbury Road, Watertown, CT 06795 would be appreciated.
