John H. Allen

John Henry Allen,  a lifelong resident of Dedham, died Saturday March 9, 2013, at home with his family.  He was 74.  John was born May 11, 1938 in Boston, Massachusetts, the son of the late Joseph H. and Helen M. (Lafferty) Allen.  He grew up in Dedham and  graduated with the Dedham High School Class of 1954.  He worked as a marketing and computer consultant for Bird & Sons, Fidelity and Kalman Saffron Associates of Newton where he was employed for 23 years until his retirment in 2004.  John loved to travel, and he was especially fond of racket sports.  He is survived by his wife Barbara A. (Stuart) Allen of Dedham; his children, Richard H. Allen, and his wife Maureen, of Harleysville, PA., Cynthia M. Allen of Casselbury, FL, and Kimberly A. Roschlein, and her husband Jurgen, of Alta Monte Springs, FL; his step-daughter Heather S. Johnson, and her husband Greg, of Chicopee; and his grandchildren Kristen and Caitlin Allen, Matthew  Roschlein, and Brittney, Trevor and Noah Johnson.  He is also survived by his cousins Mary Ellen Spence, Dorothy Price, and Ginny Rasmussen. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2013  from 4-8 pm at Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 am at the funeral home.  Burial will be private.
