John E. Makinen

John E. Makinen, a 50 year resident of Dedham, died Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Pond Home in Wrentham.  He was 97.  John was born April 9, 1914 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only child of Finnish immigrants John and Limpi (Makinen) Makinen.  Mr. Makinen was  a World War Two Army Air Corp veteran.  He was honorably discharged as a sergeant.  He was employed as the Director of General Services for the John Hancock Insurance Company.  John was the husband of the late Dorothy M. (Welsh) Makinen.  He is survived by his daughter Marie Segersten of Hyannis, and his two granddaughters, Amanda and Vanessa.  Services and interment in Mosswood Cemetery in Cotuit were private.  In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 would be appreciated.
