John Calvin Parsons a 55 year resident of Dedham, died Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Stanley Tippet House in Needham. He was 89. John was born June 15, 1926 in Cambridge, Massachusetts, a son of Nathaniel and Mary Esther Parsons, immigrants from Newfoundland, Canada. After graduating from High School John enlisted in the US Navy and served as a Gunner’s Mate on the USS Saratoga, seeing action in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He was honorably discharged in 1945. John worked as a busdriver for the MBTA for 34 years until his retirement in 1983 and then went on to drive schoolbuses in Dedham, which he thoroughly enjoyed. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, where he served as a Vestryman, taught Sunday School, and ushered. John is survived by his wife of 65 years, Adrienne Lorraine (Reid) Parsons; his daughter, Jeanne Jeffery of Dedham; his three sons, John Calvin Parsons Jr., of Foxboro, Peter Scott Parsons, and his wife Leanore, of Mason, Ohio, and Andrew Keith Parsons, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island; and two grandchildren, William A. Parsons, and Emily Margaret Parsons. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, Oct 21, 2015 at Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.
