Joan P. Dipietro

d. June 26, 2011

Joan Patricia (Sweeney) DiPietro, a resident of Westwood for over 30 years, died Sunday, June 26th, 2011 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.  She was 75.  Joan was born in the Mission Hill section of Boston, the only daughter of Patrick and Cathryn (Murphy) Sweeney, immigrants from Ireland.  She graduated from Mission Hill High School and attended Boston State College before meeting and marrying her husband of 49 years, Charles C. DiPietro.  In addition to her husband, she is survived by 5 children and 8 grandchildren.  Survivors include her son, Charles J. DiPietro of South Boston; her four daughters, Paula Colena of Franklin, Carla MacPherson of Walpole, Kathleen Pelick of Franklin, and Adrianne Stoller of Franklin; and her brother, John Sweeney of Roslindale.  Joan’s family was the most important thing in the world to her, and the only thing better than spending time with her children and grandchildren, was to spend that time with them at the beach or near the ocean.  Visiting hours will be held Thursday, June 30th from 4 to 8 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood.  Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home Friday at 9 am and proceed to St. Mary’s Church in Franklin for her Mass of Christian Burial at 11 o clock.  Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Franklin.  For those who wish to make donations in lieu of flowers, the family requests they consider the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 or the National Kidney Foundation, 85 Vernon Street, Norwood, MA 02062.
