Jimmie Len Jarrett departed this life on February 6, 2013 at the Park Place Nursing Home in Hyde Park after a long illness. The Lord sent down his angels to bring Jimmie home. Jimmie was born May 2, 1929 in Brownsville, Tennessee. He was the fifth child of the thirteen born to J.W. Jarrett Sr. and Lucy Bond Jarrett. His parents, two sisters, five brothers, and his daughters, Len Marie and Jasmine Len, preceded him in death. Jimmie professed a hope in Christ at an early age at the Woodlawn Missionary Baptist Church in Brownsville, Tennessee. He attended and graduated from the school system in Brownsville and went on to the Long Island Trade School on Long Island, New York, where he pursued his career and became a licensed contractor and entreprenuer with JJ General General Contractor, Real Estate, and Woodrow Variety Stores. Jimmie enjoyed gardening, building, creating beautiful crafts, playing the guitar, and singing the blues. He was a man of many skills and talents. Mostly, he adored his wife and family. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Bettye Williams Jarrett; his daughter, Mariah Williams of Boston; his sons, Jerome Jarrett of Cape Cod, and Jimmie Len Jarrett Jr. of Portland, Oregon; his brothers, Willie D. Jarrett, and his wife Mabel, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Frank Jarrett of Decatur, Illinois; his sisters, Marie Minor, and her husband C.L., Vertie Hyder, and her husband Frank, and Lucy B. Johnson, all of Decatur, Illinos; his brothers-in-law, Jessie L. Mann of Brownsville, Tennessee, and Anthony Williams of Boston; his sisters-in-law Barbara Jarrett of Decatur, Illinois, D’Jaris Williams of Hawthorne, California, and Cynthia Williams of Blackwood, New Jersey; six grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday at 11 AM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 63 Belgrade Avenue, Roslindale followed by interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston. Jimmie’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of both the Mass General Hospital and of Park Place Nursing Home for all their care and concern.
