Jean E. “Betty” Lohrer

Jean Elizabeth “Betty”(Lloyd) Lohrer, a resident of Westwood for 58 years, died Friday, May 1, 2015 at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood.  She was 92.  Jean was born March 31, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts, the only child of Lawrence H. and Jean D. (Cruickshank) Lloyd, immigrants from the United Kingdom.  She grew up in Jamaica Plain and attended the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston.  Betty worked as a Bank Clerk for the South Boston Savings Bank until her retirement in 1958.  She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Westwood and of Contentment Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in Dedham.  Betty was the wife for 45 years of the late Martin Ruoff Lohrer and is survived by her two daughters, Dorothy Jeanne Dobson, and her husband Kevin, of Plainville, and Jane E. MacNeil, and her husband Donald, of Westwood, as well as her lifelong friend Priscilla (Volmer) Currie.  Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, May 5th from 4 to 7 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Wednesday, May 6th at 10 AM at St. St. John’s Episcopal Church, 95 Deerfield, Avenue, Westwood  followed by interment in Forest Hills Cemetery in Boston.  In lieu of flowers donations in Betty’s memory to the Friends of the Westwood Council on Aging, 210 Nahatan Street, Westwood, MA 02090 would be appreciated.
