Irving Lester “Nick”  Nickerson, a lifelong resident, died Wednesday, July 4, 2018 in the house where he was born.  He was 91.  Irving was born November 1, 1926 in Dedham, Massachusetts, the only child of Lester Kelley and Mabel L. (Kussmaul) Nickerson.  He graduated from Dedham High School and was inducted into the US Army in February 1945 and served until his honorable discharge in Dec 1946 at the end of World War Two.  Irving worked for 30 years as a telephone repairman and lineman for Bell Telephone Company and AT&T until his retirement.  He was an avid fisherman, hunter, boater, and outdoorsman.  Nick also had his pilot’s license, but his family was his top priority in life.  Nick was the beloved husband of the late Mary L. (Hasenfuss) who predeceased his in February,  and the dear father of Peter Nickerson of Sharon, William Nickerson, and his fiancé Patty Foley, of Dedham, Mary Schroth, and her husband Peter, of Uxbridge, and Claire Petersen, and her husband William, of Attleboro, and the late Daniel Nickerson.  He was the loving grandfather of Matthew Schroth, Erin Maco, Stacy Domurat, and Nicholas Petersen, and proud great grandfather of Lily Maco, Henri Domurat, and Isabella Petersen; as well as the stepson of the late Clarence Green.  Visiting hours will be held Monday, July 9th from 4-8 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham.  Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home starting at 9 am Tuesday and proceed to St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St., Dedham for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o  clock.  Interment with military honors will follow at Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
