Harvey H. Kamps, a lifelong resident of Dedham, all of it on the same street, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at his home. He was 90. Harvey was born September 22, 1922 in Dedham, Massachusetts one of the seven children of Edward E. and Louise Alma (Kiessling) Kamps. He attended Dedham High School and worked as an auto mechanic for Macdonald Motors in West Roxbury before starting his own trucking business, H. Kamps and Sons. Harvey was known by his friends and family as “the problem solver”. If you needed something fixed or repaired, Harvey’s mechanical abilities would rescue you. He was so talented that he built a cottage in Plymouth where he and his family loved to summer. Harvey is survived by his wife, Harriet Ann (Brunt); his daughter, Nancy J. Kamps Siegel of Dedham; his two sons, Edward V. Kamps of Fall River, and Roy A. Kamps of Norwood; his sister, Alma M. Jacklin of New Hampshire; his seven grandchildren, Julie E. Kamps, Amy J. Kamps, Molly C. Kamps, Michelle T. Kamps, Jeffrey E. Kamps, Leah R. Siegel and Eric M. Siegel; and his three great grandchildren, Emily T. Kamps, Gillian M. Brady, and Libby E. Kamps. He was the brother of the late Edward C. Kamps, the late Albert L. Kamps, the late Ernestine Kamps, the late Helen M. Kamps, and the late Pauline Weber. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Friday, April 26, 2013 at 2 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham followed by burial in Brookdale Cemetery in Dedham.
