Harold Robert Gleason, of Millis, formerly of Dedham, died Thursday, October 11, 2012 at the Brockton Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton, Massachusetts after a long illness.  He was 79.  Harold was born August 21, 1933 in Boston, Massachusetts, a son of Thomas F. and Gertrude (LeBline) Gleason.  He graduated from Dedham High School with the class of 1951 and joined the Air Force where he learned to become an aircraft mechanic.  After his honorable discharge in 1952 he spent several years in the Coast Guard Reserve.  Harold worked as a mason and bricklayer for the Bricklayers Union Local One in Boston until his retirement in 1991 .  He loved sports, especially hockey, baseball and football.  Harold was an avid reader.  He also enjoyed boating and walking on the beach along the ocean.  Harold was a volunteer for the Disabled American Veterans and for 25 years he drove veterans to the West Roxbury VA Hospital for their appointments and activities.  He was recognized for his many hours of service to the veterans.  Harold is survived by his wife, Jeanne L. (Corbet); his son, Steven J. Gleason, and his wife Rosie, of South Attleboro; his brother, Richard Gleason of Marthas Vineyard; and his two sisters, Gerry McPhee of Atlanta, Georgia, and Pat Sheehan of Westwood.  He was the father of the late Kevin Gleason and the late Bob Gleason, and the brother of the late Thomas Gleason and the late Joseph Gleason.  Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday, October 16th from noon to 1 PM at the Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood.  At 1 PM a procession will form and proceed to Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton for a graveside service at 1:30 PM.  In lieu of flowers donations to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 would be appreciated.
