Harold Joseph Harris, a 12 year resident of Dedham and a 40 year resident of Stockbridge, died Tuesday, December 14, 2010 at the Faulkner Hospital in Boston. He was 84. Mr. Harris was born in East Boston, the son of the late John T. and Ellen (Duffy) Harris. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1945, joining his 3 brothers who were also fighting in World War II. Harold lived in Mission Hill for 20 years and then in West Roxbury for 20 years. Mr. Harris began working for the Boston Symphony Orchestra as an assistant to the stage manager in 1965 and retired in 1989. He was then asked to work for the Symphony during their summer programs at Tanglewood, out in the Berkshires, where he continued for another 10 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara M. (Sullivan) Harris. He is survived by his daughters Carolan H. Vaughn of Dedham and Judith A. Harris of Natick; his son-in-law Neil Vaughn of Dedham; his grandsons, Christopher H. Vaughn of Essex Junction, VT and Nicholas Vaughn of Dedham. He was the brother of the late George A, Edward J. and John T. Harris Jr. and Priscilla M. Harris. Visiting hours will be held Friday 4-7 pm at Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton St., Dedham. Relatives and friends will gather Saturday at 8 am at the funeral home and proceed to St. Mary’s Church, 420 High Street, Dedham for the celebration of his Mass of Christian Burial at 9 O’clock. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury. Donations in Mr. Harris’ memory may be made to Charles River ARC, 59 East Militia Heights, Needham, MA. 02492, ATTN: Gerald Riley
